A miracle has happened. Something out of fairytales! I have been on dialysis for a year. I received a call last week that a living donor wants to give me a kidney. I was dumbfounded. I don’t know who it is. I hope they will let me know so I can thank them.
I am overwhelmed and thankful for the chance to live much longer than I had hoped. To see my grandchildren grow up and go through life celebrating their triumphs and being there for any sorrows.
My surgery is tomorrow, and I am feeling a bit emotional. My bedroom will no longer be a warehouse of boxes. I will not have to hook up to a machine to live. I will eventually be able to travel and enjoy going and experiencing new places.
I thank God every day for this opportunity, and I thank the person who was so selfless that they decided to give me a new life. There is nothing I can do to thank them enough for their sacrifice.
I know there will be a struggle the first year with the medications and all the healing, but my heart is now filled with gratitude and love.
